Your account

Deleting your account in the app
This is the quickest way, and it takes effect immediately.
- Open TriviaTrek.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
If you no longer have the app
Email hello@triviatrek.app with your TriviaTrek username, and send it from the email address registered on the account. That address is how we confirm the request is really yours - we cannot act on a request that arrives from anywhere else, because we would be deleting a stranger's account on a stranger's say-so.
We will delete the account and confirm by reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.
If you never added a recovery email to your account, we have no way to verify ownership by email. Reinstall the app, sign back in on a device that still has your account, and delete it from Settings.
Deleting the app is not the same as deleting your account
Removing TriviaTrek from your phone does not tell us anything: your account carries on existing, and the phone stays signed in on our side for up to 90 days. On an iPhone that is deliberate - reinstalling within that time brings you straight back to your account rather than locking you out. If what you want is the account gone, use one of the two routes above before you delete the app. If you have already deleted it, reinstall and sign back in, or email us.
Passing an iPhone on to someone else? Erase it, or sign out in the app first. Erasing clears the stored sign-in; simply deleting the app does not.
What deletion removes
- Your profile, username and any recovery email.
- Your sessions and registered devices, which are revoked immediately.
- Your gameplay answers, journey progress, streak, credits and inventory.
- Your friends, families, active challenges and invitations.
What deletion does not remove
- Purchase records. We keep these to handle refunds, chargebacks and fraud, and because we are required to keep transaction records. They are no longer linked to a live account.
- Quiz participation records. We keep which quizzes were started, their completion status (such as completed, abandoned or expired), and their scores so that we can understand completion and abandonment. We also keep that a challenge was attempted, but remove its challenge and player scores. These records remain associated with the identifier of the deleted account, but not with its former profile, username or recovery email.
- Server and CDN logs. These age out on their own retention schedule.
- Backups. Deleted data persists in backups until they are overwritten in the ordinary cycle.
- Copies saved on your other phones. The app stores some of your data on each device so it works offline. Deleting your account signs every device out, so none of them can reach your account any more - but the copy already on a phone stays in the app's storage there, and we have no way to reach into a device we can no longer sign in to. Delete the app from any other device you used, or clear its data in your device settings.
- Your subscription. Deleting your account does not cancel a TriviaTrek Explorer Pass - cancel that in your Apple or Google account, or you will keep being billed.
Deletion cannot be undone. There is no way to recover an account afterwards.
Deleting some of your data, but keeping your account
You do not have to close the account to have data removed. Email hello@triviatrek.app from your registered address, say what you want erased - your recovery email, your gameplay history, your friends and families - and we will erase it and confirm within 30 days, or tell you why it cannot be separated from the account.
